The Cam Valley Wildlife Group Events Programme has been updated with events planned so far to March 2025

Event reminder – Talk on Curlew conservation Wednesday 6th

Wednesday 6th November – Talk by Mike Smart – ‘Saving Curlews’
Mike Smart, a trustee of Curlew Action will be talking about the organisation’s work to conserve the curlew. 7.30pm for 8.00pm start at the Radstock Working Men’s Club. Bar with hot/cold drinks.

Cam Valley Wildlife Group Events

The CVWG Events Programme to September has been posted. It includes trips and Moth & Bat events at Haydon and Faulkland. If those don’t take your fancy, there are Helena’s popular weekly botany walks, workdays in Paulton, Barn Owl conservation, butterfly transect walks and the Insect Project to consider! If you have an interest in otters, we are looking for someone to run the Otter Project right now.

Sadly, conditions will be too poor tomorrow, Saturday 4th May, to hold the planned event.

CVWG events just updated

Two events have been added to the CVWG events programme today, 4th April – a visit to see woodland birds and herons at Swell wood in April and a moth and bat evening on Haydon Batch in May.

Cam Valley Wildlife Group postings

The CVWG 2024 Botany Walks Programme, our spring Events Programme and Newsletter 109, Winter 2023/4, are up on the website. You or someone you know may be interested in evening botany walks, daytime insect surveys, regular butterfly transect walks, wildlife trips outside our area, wildlife photography, bat detecting, moth trapping or wildlife habitat conservation work… if so, do have a look! You may wish to join our Barn Owl conservation team or consider getting involved with the other projects on offer via our project pages. Our area lies within the Somer Valley area of North Somerset.

Free Woodland Skills Training

Avon Needs Trees are running a free training Course: Woodland Skills Training Programme.

The woodland Skills training programme is designed to help adults who want to work with trees and woodlands to gain skills and experience that might lead to employment, training or volunteering. The Woodland Skills training programme is a combination of practical on-site learning experiences and talks from industry professionals on a range of topics relating to woodland creation, tree care and land management. It is free to attend but you must apply and be selected onto the programme first. The application deadline is Wed 6th December
